Braves Sink Captains
Rome, GA- The Rome Braves sunk the Lake County Captains 10-5 Friday night at
State Mutual Stadium.
The Braves got off to a great start in the first inning when Jeff Francoeur
singled home Onil Joseph who reached on a single and later stole second base.
Brian McCann followed with a double scoring Ardley Jansen, who reached on a
single, and Francoeur. Jonathan Schuerholz doubled down the left field line
scoring McCann and Wes Timmons who reached after he was hit by a pitch.
Jon Van Every put Lake County on the board in the third with a solo homerun
to left center.
Rome added one run in the fourth and three in the fifth inning to increase
their lead over Lake County to 10-1.
The Captains bounced back in the seventh inning scoring four runs. On in relief
for Rome, Mike Mueller walked four straight batters to give Lake County their
second run. Van Every then singled to center to score two more runs to make
the score 10-5.
Kyle Davies of Rome remains undefeated with the win (4-0) pitching six innings
and giving up two hits, one earned run, walking one batter, and striking out
four. Daniel Denham gets the loss for Lake County (2-2).
The Braves and Captains meet again Saturday night at 7 at State Mutual Stadium.
