Captains Shutout Braves

Rome, GA- The Rome Braves were shutout by the Lake County Captains 7-0 Saturday night at State Mutual Stadium.

Lake County put their first runs on the board in the fourth when J.J. Sherrill led off the inning with a triple and then scored on a Nathan Panther single. Panther scored on a sacrifice fly to right from Shaun Larkin. Jason Cooper who reached on single, advanced to third on the Larkin fly and scored on a wild pitch from Matt Merricks.

The Captains later added one run in the fifth and three more in the sixth to ice the game.

Sean Smith (3-2) merits the win for the Captains and Shea Douglas earns the save (6). Matt Merricks (4-3) gets the loss for Rome.

The Braves and Captains meet again Sunday afternoon at 2 at State Mutual Stadium.
