Braves Lose Fight with Riverdogs
Rome, GA – The Charleston Riverdogs defeated the Rome Braves 6-4 at
State Mutual Stadium in front of 3,280 fans to open the second half of the 2007
season.
The Braves jumped on the board first in the first inning on a sacrifice fly-out
by Tyler Flowers scoring Concepcion Rodriguez giving the Braves the early 1-0
lead. The Riverdogs would later grab the lead with four runs in the fourth inning
highlighted by a two run homer to left field by Josue Calzado scoring Kevin
Smith for the 2-1 advantage. Chris Kunda continued the inning by hitting a two
RBI double down the left field line scoring Jose Gil and Wilmer Pino pushing
the lead the 4-1.
Rome would even things up in the home half of the fourth as Rodriguez doubled
down the left field line plating Larry Williams and Phillip Britton making it
a 4-3 game. Chad Lundahl crossed the plate later in the inning on a wild pitch
by Ivan Nova dead locking the game at 4-4.
Charleston would take the lead for good on a sacrifice fly RBI by Kunda scoring
Eduardo Nunez and a RBI single by Mitch Hilligoss scoring Jose Gil to give the
Riverdogs a 6-4 win.
Ferdin Tejeda earns the win for the Riverdogs (1-0), while James Curtis suffers
the loss (2-2).
