Braves Bite Back At RiverDogs - Rome Evens Series
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves get their first win of the second half defeating
the Charleston Riverdogs 2-1 before 3,584 fans in attendance at State Mutual
Stadium.
The Riverdogs got an early lead by scoring a run in opening inning on a Scott
Fortenberry RBI single scoring Mitch Hilligoss for the 1-0 advantage. The Braves
would answer back in the bottom half of the first when Yohan Silva crossed the
plate on a two run homer over the left field wall by Jon Mark Owings giving
Rome the 2-1 lead. The Rome bullpen held Charleston the rest of the way to secure
the victory.
Braves pitching overall gave up just six hits and just one earn run. Jeff Lyman
fired six strong innings and gets credit for the win (3-7). Beau Jones, Ryne
Reynoso and Chris Medlen blanked the Riverdogs with Medlen earning the save
(8). Hector Noesi receives the loss for the Charleston (1-1).
