Braves Stay Quiet against the Riverdogs
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves lost Sunday afternoon 4-0 to the Charleston
Riverdogs in front of 3,073 fans at State Mutual Stadium.
Charleston jumped on an early lead in the first inning highlighted by a Seth
Fortenberry single. Kevin Smith followed with a base hit advancing Fortenberry
to second base. Fortenberry and Smith later scored on a two run RBI double by
Josue Calzado to left-center field giving the Riverdogs a 2-0 lead.
The Riverdogs tagged on two insurance runs on a Chris Kunda double in the bottom
of the ninth inning mounting their lead to 4-0.
The Braves assemble two hits from Phillip Britton and Concepcion Rodriguez
while striking out ten times as a team as Charleston pitching picked up the
shutout.
Michael Dunn is the winner (9-3) today and kept his 3-0 perfect record against
the Rome intact. Deunte Heath is charged with the loss (2-3) despite retiring
his last 19 out of 22 batters after giving up three hits to the first five hitters.
Rome hits the road for games in Columbus on Tuesday and Wednesday before returning
