Braves Lose Series Finale
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves lost another close game Friday evening to
the Columbus Catfish 4-2 before a crowd of 3,827 at State Mutual Stadium. It
was Rome’s sixth loss in a row.
Columbus got on the scoreboard first as Ryan Royster started off the second
inning with a single to left field and later scored on an RBI single by Joey
Callender for the 1-0 lead.
The Braves tied the game 1-1 in the fifth on a two out RBI single by Robert
Marcial. Rome took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning as Rodriguez
walked and later scored on an RBI ground out by Chad Lundahl giving Rome the
2-1 lead.
Heavy lightning and thunder delay the game for forty-two minutes and when the
dust settled Columbus took the lead for good thanks to a two out, three run
homer by Royster giving the Catfish the 4-2 win.
Heath Rollins gets the win for Columbus 8-2 while Chris Medlen is tagged with
the loss (0-1) for Rome.
