Catfish Win Finale
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves lose the series finale 3-1 to the Columbus
Catfish Monday night before a crowd of 2,756 at State Mutual Stadium.
Columbus jumped on the board in the second inning as Craig Albernaz, who singled
and reached second on a ground out, came around to score on a Desmond Jennings
RBI single for the 1-0 lead. The Catfish added another run in the fourth as
Seth Dhanenens singled to start the inning and later scored on a Brett Grandstrand
ground out giving Columbus the 2-0 advantage. The Catfish added another run
in the eighth as Quinn Stewart led off with a single and Joey Callender followed
with another single to center advancing Stewart to third. Stewart would later
score on a throwing error to first base by Tim Gustafson giving the Catfish
the 3-0 lead.
The Braves tried to rally in the ninth as Jon Mark Owings led off the inning
with a walk and later scored on an RBI single by Chad Lundahl. Columbus pitching
held the Braves the rest of the way to claim the 3-1 victory. Rome had chances
to score during the game but stranded nine base runners.
Heath Rollins earned his ninth win of the season (9-3) as Tim Gustafson was
the loser (2-8). Ryan Owen picked up the save (7) for Columbus.
