Rome Takes Savannah
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves continued their good work this home stand
by defeating the Savannah Sand Gnats 6-3 Wednesday night at State Mutual Stadium
before 2,866 fans. It was
the Braves’ third win in their last four games.
Rome led Savannah the entire night and started things off with a run in the
second inning with a two out RBI single by Larry Williams. Rome added two more
runs in the third on RBI singles by Tyler Flowers and Chase Fontaine for the
3-0 lead.
Savannah made it a 3-2 game in the fourth. D.J. Wabick blasted a two run homer
but Rome quickly grabbed back one of the runs in the bottom of the inning thanks
to a solo shot by Larry Williams to make it a 4-2 game
The Braves added two insurance runs in the fifth inning for the 6-2 lead and
went on to win the game
6-3.
Kyle Cofield earns the win (4-6) while Matt Durkin gets the loss (4-5). Jorge
Acosta picks up the
save (1).
The Braves take on the Sand Gnats again tomorrow night at seven o’clock.
