Rome over Asheville
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves took game one of a four game series 4-2 Tuesday
night in front of 3,086 fans at State Mutual Stadium.
The Rome Braves jumped to an early lead in the first inning as Robert Marcial
walked and later scored on a Willie Cabrera triple for the 1-0 score. Cabrera
later crossed the plate on an RBI double by Larry Williams giving the Braves
the 2-0 advantage. Rome added two more runs in the third inning as Yohan Silva
and Cabrera both walked and advanced on a double steal. Tyler Flowers then singled
scoring Silva for the 3-0 margin. Cabrera later scored on a wild pitch by Esmil
Rogers for the 4-0 lead.
The Tourists scored single runs in the fourth and fifth but Beau Jones pitched
well holding Asheville scoreless the rest of the game.
Michael Broadway earned the win (7-4) for Rome while Esmil Rogers is tagged
with the lose (2-2) for Asheville. Beau Jones picked up his third save of the
year.
The Braves take on the Tourists for the second game of a four game series tomorrow,
