Legends Spoil Sweep - Lexington over Rome in final match
Rome, GA – The Lexington Legends salvaged the final game of the four
game series against the Rome Braves 6-3 Thursday night at State Mutual Stadium
in front of 2,787 fans. It was the end of Rome’s five game winning streak
and their first home loss in the last twelve games.
Lexington jumped on the board in the second inning when Jimmy Van Ostrand lined
a solo shot (10) to left making the score 1-0. Greg Buchanan later singled and
was driven home on a Nick Moresi tripled to center giving the Legends the 2-0
lead. Lexington added a single run in the third on a RBI double by Koby Clemens
for the 3-0 score. The Legends added to their lead in the fourth inning thanks
to a two run homer by Nick Moresi (8) for the 5-0 advantage.
Rome pushed two runs across the plate in their half of the fourth as Tyler
Flowers had a RBI single and later scored on a fielding error by Greg Buchanan
to make it a 5-2 score. But that is as close as Rome would get as Lexington
would win the game by a final score of 6-3.
Sergio Severino gets the win (4-6) while Michael Broadway is tagged with the
loss (8-5).
The Braves begin a series against the West Virginia Power tomorrow at 7pm.
