Braves Leave West Virginia Powerless - Rome Wins Second of Four Game Series

Rome, GA – The Rome Braves take the second of a four game series against the West Virginia Power 3-1 Saturday night at State Mutual Stadium in front of a sellout crowd of 5,105 fans. Rome has won 14 of their last 16 games at home and has inched only four games behind Southern Division leader Asheville.

West Virginia scored in the third inning when Brent Brewer lined a solo home run to left giving the Power a 1-0 advantage. The Braves countered when Chase Fontaine walked and later scored on a Brad Miller fielding error tying the game at 1-1.

Rome took the lead when Fontaine tripled and scored on a Robert Marcial suicide squeeze bunt to give the Braves the 2-1 lead.

The Power failed to make a comeback as the Braves pushed across one more run in the eighth for the 3-1 victory.

Jamie Richmond gets the win (6-5) while Alexandre Periard is tagged with the loss (5-5).
