Braves Leave West Virginia Powerless - Rome Wins Second of Four Game Series
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves take the second of a four game series against
the West Virginia Power 3-1 Saturday night at State Mutual Stadium in front
of a sellout crowd of 5,105 fans. Rome has won 14 of their last 16 games at
home and has inched only four games behind Southern Division leader Asheville.
West Virginia scored in the third inning when Brent Brewer lined a solo home
run to left giving the Power a 1-0 advantage. The Braves countered when Chase
Fontaine walked and later scored on a Brad Miller fielding error tying the game
at 1-1.
Rome took the lead when Fontaine tripled and scored on a Robert Marcial suicide
squeeze bunt to give the Braves the 2-1 lead.
The Power failed to make a comeback as the Braves pushed across one more run
in the eighth for the 3-1 victory.
Jamie Richmond gets the win (6-5) while Alexandre Periard is tagged with the
loss (5-5).
