Braves Disconnect Power

Rome, GA – The Rome Braves take the third of a four game series against the West Virginia Power 6-4 Sunday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium in front of 2,681 fans. Rome has won 15 of their last 17 games at home.

West Virginia scored in the second inning when Chuck Caufield lined a triple to right and later scored on a groundout by Taylor Green for the 1-0 score. The Braves countered in their half of the second when Tyler Flowers reached base on a fielding error and moved to second on a single by Chase Fontaine. A wild pitch moved both base runners up 90 feet. Concepcion Rodriguez then reached on a fielding error which scored Flowers from third to tie the game. On a double steal attempt, Fontaine and Rodriguez both moved up which gave Rome the 2-1 lead. Rome added another run in the third on an RBI single by Flowers for the 3-1 score. The Braves scored their fourth run of the game in the fourth on a sacrifice fly RBI by Travis Jones giving Rome a 4-1 lead.

The Power inched back in the fifth when Green, after a double, scored off of a throwing error by Yohan Silva for the 4-2 score. Rome added two insurance runs in the eighth widening the lead to 6-2.

The Power scored two runs in the ninth but Rome held on for the 6-4 victory.

Cole Rohrbough gets his first win (1-0) while Chris Toneguzzi is tagged with the loss (4-3).
