Rome Overpowers West Virginia - Braves Sweep Power with Power

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves sweep the West Virginia Power in a four game series10-0 Monday night at State Mutual Stadium in front of 2,560 fans.

The Braves jumped on the board early in the first inning when Travis Jones (5) lined a solo shot to center giving Rome the 1-0 lead. Phillip Britton then singled and later scored on a Jon Mark Owings home run (13) for the 3-0 advantage.

Rome continued their domination in the sixth. Tyler Flowers doubled to center followed by a Brandon Hicks single advancing Flowers to third. Chase Fontaine is walked shortly after to load the bases. Ernesto Mejia tripled to right scoring all three runners for the 6-0 score. Mejia would eventually score on a wild pitch by Jose Romero. On the play Robert Marcial struck out swinging but advanced to first as the ball skipped past the catcher. Yohan Silva reached base on a single to left and was later driven in by a three run homer by Phillip Britton (5) for the 10-0 win. Rome pitching struck out eight, walked no one, and gave up just four hits for the shut out.

Chris Vines gets the win (2-0) while Jeremy Jeffress is tagged with the loss (7-5).
