Braves Notch First Win of the Season
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves pick up their first win of 2008 4-1 at State
Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 2,910 fans to salvage the final game of the
four game series with Charleston.
The RIverdogs took the lead in the fourth inning 1-0. Abraham Almonte singled
to left and later moved to second on a throwing error by Chad lundahl on a ground
ball by Justin Snyder putting runners on first and second. Bradley Suttle then
singled to lead the bases and Jesus Montero grounded into a double play to score
Almonte.
The lead wouldn’t last long as the Braves scored two runs of their own
in the fifth. Chad Lundahl led off the inning with a double to left-center and
later scored on an RBI single by Javier Dominguez to tie the game. Dominguez
advanced to second on a throwing error and went to third on a groundout. He
later scored on a pass ball by Montero giving Rome the 2-1 lead.
Rome added insurance runs in the seventh inning with RBI singles by Lundahl
and Jason Heyward giving the Braves a 4-1 victory.
Rome starter Steve Evarts earns the win (1-0) going five innings, striking
out four, and allowing no earned runs. Edgar Osuna who struck out eight in just
four innings pitched, gets the save (1). Charleston’s Adam Olbrychowski
picks up the loss (0-1),
