Braves Hooked by Catfish - Columbus Wins First Game of Series
Rome, GA – The Columbus Catfish defeated the Rome Braves 11-1 Friday
evening at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 3,479.
Columbus got on the board with two runs in the fourth inning when former Rome
Brave Chase Fontaine doubled. He later scored on another double by Quinn Stewart.
Henry Wrigley then drove in Stewart on an RBI single making the score 2-0. In
the sixth, Columbus scored five runs highlighted by a 2 RBI double by Henry
Wrigley for the 7-1 score.
Rome’s lone run of the game came in the bottom of the sixth when Cody
Johnson doubled and later scored on a groundout by CJ Lee. Columbus added three
insurance runs in the seventh and one in the ninth for the 11-1 victory.
Columbus starter Brian Flores gets the win (5-3) while Rome starter Chad Rodgers
takes the loss (1-8).
Game two of the series will begin tomorrow night at seven. It is Parrot Head
