Braves Send RiverDogs to the Doghouse
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves beat the Charleston Riverdogs (8-7) Monday
evening at State Mutual Stadium in front of 2,577 fans.
Rome got on board in the first inning after Cole Miles singled, advanced to
second on a Cody Johnson single and went to third on a Freddie Freeman fly ball
to right field. He later stole home giving Rome a 1-0 lead. In the second, the
RiverDogs’ Austin Romine reached on a walk and advanced to third on a
Brandon Laird single. Laird later advanced to second on a wild pitch and Carmen
Angelini then walked to load the bases. Austin Krum then tripled to clear the
bases giving Charleston the 3-1 lead. The Braves took back the lead in the bottom
half of the second highlighted by an Adam Coe two run homer and an RBI single
by Cole Miles for the 4-3 score.
Charleston went ahead 7-4 in the sixth on a Brandon Laird two run triple, an
RBI single by Angelini, and sacrifice fly by Austin Krum. .
Braves tied the game in the seventh inning when Benji Johnson, Yohan Silva,
and Adam Coe all singled to load the bases. Chad Lundahl then tripled scoring
all three base runners to tie the game at 7-7.
In the ninth, Silva doubled and advanced to third on a throwing error by Krum.
On the suicide squeeze, Adam Coe bunted to the mound and Silva beat the play
at the plate giving Rome the 8-7 win. It was Rome’s second walk off win
in the last three games.
Benino Pruneda gets the win in relief (2-3) for the Braves while Jesse Hoover
is tagged with the loss (3-3).
Rome faces Charleston again tomorrow night at seven. Don’t forget it’s
