RiverDogs Bite Back
Rome, GA – The Charleston RiverDogs defeated the Rome Braves (5-2) Tuesday
evening at State Mutual Stadium in front of 2,601 fans.
Charleston got on board in the first inning, after Abraham Almonte tripled
and later scored on a Justin Snyder single for the 1-0 lead. Bradley Suttle
also singled, advancing Snyder to second. Snyder later scored on an Austin Romine
base hit giving the RiverDogs the lead 2-0. In the second inning, Benji Johnson
singled and scored on an Adam Coe homerun (4), tying the game 2-2. In the Charleston
half of the fifth, Snyder scored once again after he singled and advanced to
third on a Jesus Montero hit. Austin Romine then cracked a base hit scoring
Snyder allowing Charleston to regain the lead 3-2.
In the seventh the RiverDogs added two insurance runs, one on a wild pitch
by Tommy Palica and the other on an RBI single by Jesus Montero making the final
score 5-2.
Olbrychowski gets the win for the RiverDogs (4-2) while Eric Barrett is tagged
with the loss (1-7).
