Charleston Wins Second in a Row over Rome
Rome, GA – The Charleston RiverDogs defeated the Rome Braves 6-1Tuesday
evening at State Mutual Stadium in front of 2,927 fans.
Charleston got on board in the second inning, after Brandon Laird singled and
advanced to second when Carmen Angelini walked. Laird scored on an Austin Krum
single while Angelini advanced to third. Almonte grounded out which scored Angelini
allowing the RiverDogs to take the lead 2-0. The Braves scored their lone run
in the second when Michael Fisher doubled and advanced to third after Yohan
Silva grounded out. Fisher scored on a throwing error by Lance Pendleton for
the 3-1 Charleston lead. In the third RiverDogs’ Jesus Montero singled
and reached third after Austin Romine doubled. Montero scored after Laird singled
for the 4-1 score. Austin Krum slammed an inside-the-park homerun (4) in the
fourth giving the RiverDogs a 5-1 lead.
In the eighth the RiverDogs added two insurance runs when Austin Romine singled
and went to third after Angelini singled. Romine then scored on a sacrifice
fly by Taylor Holiday. Angelini stole second and later scored on a triple by
Austin Krum for the final 6-1 score.
Lance Pendleton gets the win for the RiverDogs (6-2) while Chad Rodgers is
tagged with the loss (1-9).
Rome faces Charleston again tomorrow night at seven in the last game of the
