Braves Sweep by Fish
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves defeated the Columbus Catfish 5-4 Tuesday
night at State Mutual Stadium in front of 5,105 fans.
The Braves scored single runs in the second, third, and fourth innings on RBI
singles by Adam Coe and Jason Heyward. Cody Johnson (13) hit a solo home run
in the fourth giving Rome the 3-0 lead. The Braves scored two more runs in the
fifth on RBI base hits by Jason Heyward and Cody Johnson for the 5-0 score.
The Catfish scored two runs in the seventh on an RBI base hit by Reid Fronk
and a sacrifice fly by Henry Wrigley closing the gap to 5-2. Columbus gets to
within one run in the eighth inning as two crossed the plate but Rome pitching
held on the rest of the way for the 5-4 victory.
Jeff Locke (3-7) gets the win for the Braves going seven innings giving up
four hits, two runs, while striking out five. Michael Mehlich (1) picks up the
save while Jesse Darcy (4-1) takes the loss for the Catfish.
