Rome Takes Second in a Row
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers 5-3 Tuesday
night at State Mutual Stadium in front of 2,635 fans.
Rome’s first run came in the second inning on an RBI single by Javier
Domiguez. Freddie Freeman had a base hit RBI in the third inning to give the
Braves a 2-0 lead.
Ryan Curry scored Greensboro’s first run in the third inning by way of
passed ball by catcher Javier Dominguez. The Hoppers tied the game in the fourth
inning on a RBI single by Ozzie Martinez. Bryan Peterson hit a solo home run
in the fifth inning to give Greensboro the 3-2 lead.
An RBI triple by Freeman in the fifth inning tied the game 3-3. Rome took the
lead in the eighth on a RBI triple by Cole Miles and a RBI single by David Berres
for the 5-3 final.
Yeliar Castro (2-5) gets the win for the Braves going five innings with seven
strikeouts. Tommy Palica (1) grabs the save. Matt Mallory (0-2) takes the loss
for the Grasshoppers.
