Rome Blanked by Augusta
Rome, GA – The Augusta GreenJackets defeated the Rome Braves in a pitching
duel
2-0 Monday night at State Mutual Stadium in front 2,976 fans to gain a split
in the four game series.
Augusta got on the board in the fourth inning when Thomas Neal was hit by a
pitch and later scored on an RBI single by Andrew Davis. Augusta made it 2-0
in the fifth on a run scoring single by Juan Ciriaco. That’s all the GreenJackets
would need.
Augusta starter Madison Bumgarner (10-3) was brilliant going seven innings
with six strikeouts and giving up just five hits. It was his third win versus
Rome this season. Yeliar Castro (3-6) pitched well posting five innings of work,
giving up two runs, and striking out seven picking up the tough loss.
Rome begins a series against the Greenville Drive starting tomorrow at 7 PM.
