Rome Splits With Hagerstown
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves and Hagerstown Suns split Wednesday’s
double header in front of 2,185 fans. Hagerstown won the first game 2-0 with
Rome bouncing back in the second game 5-1.
In game one, Hagerstown scored both of their runs in the first inning as Valerio
Heredia got on with a base hit, advanced to second on a Jose Lozada ground out.
Heredia stole third and Tim Pahuta singled driving in Heredia to make the score
1-0. Jesus Valdez also singled advancing Pahuta to third. Pahuta later scored
on a passed ball by Chris Anderson for the 2-0 score. Suns pitching shut out
the Braves on just two hits.
Cole Kimball (5-8) gets the win for Hagerstown while Jeff Locke (5-11) is tagged
with the loss.
Things got better in game two for Rome as they jumped on board in the first
inning, after Jason Heyward reached on a double and scored on a Freddie Freeman
single, making the score 1-0.
In the second inning, Hagerstown tied the game 1-1 when Garrett Bass reached
on with a base hit and advanced to third on a Bryan Miller double. Bass scored
on a Robert Jacobsen sacrifice fly. The Braves regained the lead in the third
as David Berres singled and moved to third on a fielding error on a ball hit
by Chad Lundahl. Lundahl ended up at second base on the play. Freeman singled
to score Berres moving Lundahl to third. Lundahl later scored on a sacrifice
fly by Cody Johnson, making the score 3-1.
Rome added two insurance runs during the fifth when Freddie Freeman singled
and scored on a Cody Johnson homerun (21) making the final score 5-1.
Edgar Osuna (8-4) gets the win for the Braves while Chris Lugo (2-1) gets the
loss.
Rome and Hagerstown finish their series tomorrow night at seven. It’s
