Rome Wins Series against Hagerstown
Rome, GA – The Rome Braves defeated the Hagerstown Suns 6-1 at State
Mutual Stadium Thursday evening in front 2,365 fans. Rome wins the series three
games to one.
In the first inning, Rome got all the runs they would need. CJ Lee got on with
a triple and later scored when Chad Lundahl reached on a throwing error by Jose
Lozada. Lundahl advanced to second on a Jason Heyward single. Both Lundahl and
Heyward scored on a Freddie Freeman base hit to make the score 3-0. Freeman
later reached third on a throwing error by Valerio Heredia and scored on a Cody
Johnson double for the 4-0 lead. Benji Johnson then hit an RBI double allowing
C. Johnson to score the fifth run of the inning. B. Johnson advanced to third
on a sacrifice fly by Samuel Sime and scored on another sacrifice fly by Michael
Fisher, making the score 6-0.
In the fourth, Hagerstown scored their lone run of the night when Tim Pahuta
reached on a double and scored on a Mark Gildea single. Rome pitching held the
Suns to just six hits while striking out eleven en route to the victory.
Yeliar Castro (5-6) gets the win for the Braves while Tom Milone (0-2) gets
the loss. Castro gave up just one run on three hits.
Rome faces Lake County tomorrow night at seven. It’s free footballs to
