Dogs Bite Braves

Rome, GA – The Charleston Riverdogs took a bite out of the Rome Braves Thursday night 10-2 before a crowd of 2,486.

The Riverdogs took an early lead scoring a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Laird. Rome took a 2-1 lead in the third on a two run double by newcomer Luis Sumoza. The lead was short lived however as Charleston tied the game the very next inning on a sacrifice fly Dave Williams.

In the sixth the Riverdogs took the lead for good with six runs highlighted by a run scoring double by Bradley Suttle, an RBI single by Justin Snyder, and a three run homer by Dave Williams for the 8-2 score. Charleston added two additional runs in the eighth to make the score 10-2. Rome pushed two runs across in the ninth but it was too little too late as Charleston gets the 10-4 victory.

Dellin Betances (9-4) gets the win for Charleston and Paul Clemens (0-1) the loss for Rome.

Rome and Charleston tangle again tomorrow night at seven. For ticket information contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or long onto www.romebraves.com .
